Unglaubliche Preise hier! Für drei Personen haben wir weniger als 60 Dollar inklusive Frühstück bezahlt. Die Betten waren gut, der Platz im Zimmer ok - was will man mehr. Nun geht es weiter Richtung Osten.
Sorgen macht uns die Internetverbindung. Vor der Reise habe ich das Abo bei der Swisscom geändert. Mir wurde ein unbegrenztes Surfen angeboten. Doch wie sich herausstellt, wurde zu viel versprochen... Nach 40 GB wird das Signal gedrosselt. 25 GB sind schon seit Sonntagmorgen aufgebraucht... Auf dem Weg nach Osten (vielleicht gibt es ja heute Nacht noch Astrofotografie) werden wir einen Shop aufsuchen, um das Problem vor Ort zu lösen. Die Swisscom hat bald einen Kunden weniger!
Incredible prices here! For three people we paid less than 60 dollars including breakfast. The beds were good, the space in the room was ok - what more could you want? Now we continue eastwards.
We are worried about the internet connection. Before the trip, I changed my subscription with Swisscom. I was offered unlimited surfing. But as it turns out, they promised too much... The signal is throttled after 40 GB. 25 GB have already been used up since Sunday morning... On the way east (maybe there will be some astrophotography tonight) we will visit a shop to solve the problem on the spot. Swisscom will soon have one less customer!

Auf unserer Reise in den Westen haben wir Houston links liegen gelassen. Tagsüber ist diese Stadt wunderschön. In einem Vorort von Houston sind wir in einen "Total by Verizon"-Shop gegangen und haben uns einen Hotspot und ein entsprechendes Abo gekauft. Das hat uns 50 $ für das Gerät plus 35 $ für 15 GB - Sendekapazität gekostet, in fünf Tagen können wir auf 100 GB aufrüsten. Das kostet uns einen Bruchteil von dem, was wir in der Schweiz ausgeben müssen (Swisscom z.B. 10 GB für 70 Fr.). Ich werde im Schweizer Sturmforum noch Werbung dafür machen...
We skipped Houston on our trip to the west. The city is beautiful during the day. In a suburb of Houston, we went into a "Total by Verizon" shop and bought a hotspot and a corresponding subscription. It cost us $50 for the device plus $35 for 15 GB of transmission capacity, and we can upgrade to 100 GB in five days. That costs us a fraction of what we have to spend in Switzerland (Swisscom e.g. 10 GB for 70 Fr.). I'll advertise it in the "Schweizer Sturmforum"...

Unser heutiges Ziel ist übrigens Abilene. Die Fahrt ist ruhig. Der Hotspot funktioniert einwandfrei. Ich probiere einmal alle 15 Minuten einen Livestream aus. Es lohnt sich, auch mal die anderen Tage anzuschauen, da diese mit zusätzlichen Bildern versehen wurden.
Incidentally, our destination today is Abilene. The journey is quiet. The hotspot works perfectly. I try out a live stream once every 15 minutes. It's worth taking a look at the other days too, as they have been provided with additional pictures.
