Es wird wahrscheinlich Montag sein, bis wir die einzelnen Tage aktualisieren. Wir fahren ein wenig nach Süden und morgen früh nach Osten, um die Gewitter zu erwischen. HRRR liefert sehr schöne Zellen im Norden von Texas, die wir uns nicht entgehen lassen wollen. Zwar ist die Windscherung im Norden (Kansas und Nebraska) viel besser (sehr großer Hagel wird erwartet), aber wir haben lieber den Spatz in der Hand als die Taube auf dem Dach. Wir sind vor allem an den Gewitterzellen interessiert, die sich am Dienstagmorgen bilden. Wir werden sie bis zum Ende verfolgen!
It will probably be Monday before we update the individual days. We'll head south a bit and east tomorrow morning to catch the thunderstorms. HRRR is delivering some very nice cells in north Texas that we don't want to miss. Although the wind shear is much better in the north (Kansas and Nebraska) (very large hail is expected), we'd rather have a bird in the hand than a pigeon on the roof. We're most interested in the thunderstorm cells that form on Tuesday morning. We will follow them to the end!

Untenstehend finden wir einen spannenden Grösse für Gewitter. Der Parameter "SRH 0-3 km" steht für "Storm Relative Helicity" (Sturmrelativ-Helizität) in einem vertikalen Bereich von 0 bis 3 Kilometern über dem Boden. Helizität ist ein Maß für die Scherung und die Drehung in der Atmosphäre. Sie ist wichtig für die Vorhersage von rotierenden Luftmassen, die zu starken Gewittern und möglicherweise zu Tornados führen können.
SRH 0-3 km misst die Helizität in den unteren 3 Kilometern der Atmosphäre. Dieser Parameter ist besonders relevant für die Vorhersage von Superzellengewittern. Below we find an exciting parameter for thunderstorms. The parameter "SRH 0-3 km" stands for "Storm Relative Helicity" in a vertical range from 0 to 3 kilometers above the ground. Helicity is a measure of the shear and rotation in the atmosphere. It is important for the prediction of rotating air masses that can lead to strong thunderstorms and possibly tornadoes.

Nachtrag zum Tag
Am Morgen besuchten wir einen speziellen Ort: Die Cadillac Ranch in Amarillo ist eine Kunstinstallation, die aus zehn halb im Boden versenkten Cadillacs besteht. Die Autos sind bunt bemalt und ragen schräg aus dem Boden. Die Cadillac Ranch wurde 1974 von der Künstlergruppe Ant Farm errichtet. Besucher sind eingeladen, die Autos zu besprühen und zu bemalen, wodurch sich das Aussehen der Installation ständig verändert. Die Cadillac Ranch ist ein beliebtes Touristenziel und ein Symbol amerikanischer Popkultur. Viele Besucher hinterlassen Graffiti oder persönliche Botschaften auf den Autos. Die Installation ist auch eine Hommage an die amerikanische Autokultur und den Traum von Freiheit und Abenteuer auf der Straße.

Unser zweites Ziel war der Palo Duro Canyon State Park. Er ist der zweitgrößte Canyon der USA. Er erstreckt sich über eine Fläche von rund 120 Quadratkilometern und ist bis zu 250 Meter tief. Der Palo Duro Canyon verfügt über zahlreiche Wanderwege und Aussichtspunkte, die den Besuchern atemberaubende Ausblicke auf die roten Felsformationen und die umliegende Landschaft bieten. Bei ca. 92 Grad Fahrenheit durchquerten wir einen kleinen Teil des Parks - es tat gut, einmal zu Fuß unterwegs zu sein!
Our second destination was Palo Duro Canyon State Park. It is the second largest canyon in the USA. It covers an area of around 120 square kilometers and is up to 250 meters deep. Palo Duro Canyon has numerous hiking trails and viewpoints that offer visitors breathtaking views of the red rock formations and the surrounding landscape. We crossed a small part of the park at around 92 degrees Fahrenheit - it was good to be out and about on foot for once!
